Honey Farm
What would cause honey bees to gather and bunch up on the letters on my mail box?

I live in a rural area surrounded by farms. The honey producers have their hives all over the place. One day while checking my mail I saw two groups of bees on a couple of the letters on the mail box. When I first put the letters on the box, they were reflective. I don't know if that matters.
Any ideas?

Bees can see UV light that we can't. This is one way they use to find flowers (the flowers reflect UV light but we can't see it.) Since your letters are reflective, they might be reflecting the UV light and acting as a signal to the bees (although I don't know what kinds of light mailbox letters commonly reflect.)

I think that shape could also matter. Flowers reflect UV light in distinctive patterns, which bees 'read' to differentiate which flowers are good and which ones are bad, so it could be that some of your letters look like flower signals to them, while some of them don't (granted this could be completely wrong, but it's interesting, no?)
