Beekeeping in Minnesota

Beekeeping is now legal in Minneapolis, after being banned for more than three decades. mpr's Jess Mador and Tom Weber visited a beekeeper to find out more about the process.

allergy is not to the beekeeping but to the bee venom.

Nice video. For new beeks always FIRST take out one of the end frames, either one closest to right or one closest to left hive wall. That way you will 1) give yourself a space for further manipulations of frames i.e. after you inspect next to that one you put it in the space of one you took out and 2) more importantly, least chance that you inadvertently kill the queen. Usually, queen is not on the frames adjacent to the wall.
